Juicing The Red, White And Blue On Election Night

We’re told this may be long night. Let’s hope not, but as we wait to hear the election results, I nominate a restorative, fresh and healthy beverage to keep us company.

Depending on who’s ahead later, I may change my mind and have something more robust, but, for now, here’s a recipe for a truly patriotic red, white (give or take a shade) and blue drink.

Juiced On Voting Night (serves one voter)
1 beet
1 Granny Smith apple (close enough to white)
¾ cup blueberries (frozen is fine)
1 thick slice ginger

Juice the ingredients together. Stir well. Drink and enjoy (depending on which candidate is winning).

Note: You get more juice from blueberries in a blender or food processor. If you don’t mind using another appliance, put the blueberries in one of those and purée. Spoon into beet, apple and ginger juice and stir well.
