Guess Where I Am...

Germany? No...

The French Chateau country? Nah...

Deep in the English countryside? Nope...

These pictures were taken at Biltmore in Asheville, North Carolina, while visiting our great friends A and G, who now live in the Blue Ridge Mountains in South Carolina.
We are being treated in a princely fashion. This was our welcome dinner:
North Carolina Sparkling White Wine

Endive, Stilton and Toasted Pecan Salad

Flounder with Caramelized Onions
Apple Kuchen
It was all too good...
Stay tuned next time to hear about Biltmore and its many room-ed kitchen.

OK, OK, I admit it. I am suffering Biltmore envy. I did actually guess correctly with the first picture. Food looks fabulous. I'll take an second helping of that endive-stilton-pecan salad!!

Hi Sue,

Lovely shot of the Biltmore! How was the SC wine?

I wouldn't have guessed. If you were in Europe, I probably would have grumbled a bit with resentment while reading the rest of your post. ;-)

Looking forward to hearing about your food adventures here.

DC,
You are so smart! And all the food was good. There were (almost) no clunkers.

Em,
You and me both. In fact, I needed a map just to take the pictures.

Tom,
Thank you. I'm no expert, but what we had at Biltmore was not my fav. I think people liked the tastings because they were free (or included in the price of admission). I definitely have to go back to study the wine more in depth. ;-)

Rach,
I know the feeling. But, really, walking around that estate, we could have been in Europe. And it was even better than that, because we had FUDGE! And what European manse sells that?!!

Thanks, Jess, it was.
