Sandy’s Aftermath

The best thing I can say about Sandy is that it appears to be over, but the pain is just beginning for so many. Somehow our power is still on for which I am eternally grateful. We have a bit of a mess outside, but nothing serious.

Other pictures of the storm are horrendous. Here is an amazing group of photos from weather.com

The safest course of action for right now is to stay in our houses if we can, and out of the way of those rescuing or being rescued.  I’m finding our local police’s twitter feed and facebook page the best way to find out what’s happening locally.

I’m so sorry for all of those who have lost so much. Please take care, everyone, and be extremely cautious moving around falling trees and flooded areas.

Glad you're okay and that tree isn't on your house or your head.

We were very lucky. Our power stayed on and there was no flooding. People on the harbor side of the avenue weren't so lucky. On the upside, I don't have to go to work. I have no method of transportation since the trains aren't running.

I really, really feel lucky too. I'm so glad your area is dry and you have power. I wonder if the trains will ever be up and running again. And the subways!!! OMG!
