Author! Author!

I was lucky enough to go to a book party today for my nephew, Josh Winheld. He's an extraordinary young man, who has written an autobiography of his life, although he's only just turned 30. What could he possibly have to write about? Well, actually quite a lot.

He’s been written about in The New York Times, The Philadelphia Inquirer and been covered by local news shows. He lives with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and has used a wheelchair for the last 2 decades, as he deals with the increasing challenges of his disease. But Josh hasn’t let that stop him from college, graduate school and now the publishing of his first book, Worth The Ride, by Little Treasure Books.

Josh has always been a writer and he’s an excellent speaker too. He’s often the designated speechmaker at family events. He also happens to be the person that got me started blogging, so you can blame him for that. His own blog, Winheld's World, is a mixture of personal tales, disability resources, and a way for him to meet a whole lot of people, who otherwise wouldn’t have the benefit of his friendship.

Congratulations, Josh. It was a thrill to be there today and see what you’ve accomplished.
