She used to make the most amazing "Bourbon Pecans", that she served as an Hors d'oeuvre. They were spicy, sweet, salty and basically heavenly. She gave me the cookbook where she found the recipe and it sits on my shelf now. I made them this year. The cookbook is; "The Frog Commissary Cookbook".DebCarolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07346937643590111586noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1134384403689315687.post-24929128565157893442009-11-25T14:50:29.144-05:002009-11-25T14:50:29.144-05:00Taste of Home cookbook has my very favorite recipe...Taste of Home cookbook has my very favorite recipe for cooking a turkey. It is my local church's cookbook. It looks sooo good.

Hey Rach,
You're right to want either of these cookbooks. Venezia is so gorgeous and Memorable Recipes (also very attractive) has great recipes for entertaining. You can pray to the random.org god and see what happens.

Em,
The pie is done. (I always make it the Tuesday before Thanksgiving and put it in the oven before I serve it.) It looks pretty good, I think.Suehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02284023935180677683noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1134384403689315687.post-57370402811746295502009-11-24T17:58:58.063-05:002009-11-24T17:58:58.063-05:00Long ago, 29 years to be exact, when I was first m...Long ago, 29 years to be exact, when I was first married, I bought myself "Betty Crocker's Cookbook". In it I found a recipe for Williamsburg Orange Cake. The picture was gorgeous ~ a lush, 3 layer golden orange cake with a Buttercream frosting complete with orange-flavored liqueur. The cake itself was a heavenly mix of butter, flour, sugar, eggs, buttermilk, golden raisins, nuts vanilla, orange peel and more. I made it that first year I was married for Thanksgiving and missing a few years here and there, have made it ever since.DebCarolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07346937643590111586noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1134384403689315687.post-27623201106734188522009-11-24T11:18:23.582-05:002009-11-24T11:18:23.582-05:00It's funny. For most of your cookbook contest...It's funny. For most of your cookbook contests, the idea of winning a cookbook is really secondary to the fun of simply discussing cookbooks. Coming up with an answer is a great way to stir up memories and simply exercise my brain a bit about where my recipes come from.

This time, however, I really want those cookbooks!

Most of my T-day recipes are from my own head or from the internet, but I do love Diana Morgan's book The Thanksgiving Table, which contains my beloved cider brine recipe and also a great green bean recipe that I use not just for Thanksgiving, but many other holidays. The Short (dis)Order Cookhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05510572788683143569noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1134384403689315687.post-80265884587941485052009-11-24T04:10:39.377-05:002009-11-24T04:10:39.377-05:00I wish you could have cookbook giveaways all year ...I wish you could have cookbook giveaways all year long. :( That would be fun.

I'm dying to try that sour cream apple pie.
